Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases characterized by increased pressure within the eye (intraocular pressure), which can lead to damaging changes in the optic nerve. If left untreated, this pressure can result in permanent vision loss or blindness.

A Tono-Pen is a specialized instrument used to measure the pressure inside your pet’s eyes. This quick, non-invasive test helps ensure that the eyes and optic nerves are functioning properly.

Under normal conditions, the eye contains a fluid called aqueous humor, which is produced behind the iris. This fluid flows through the pupil and drains from the eye at a balanced rate, maintaining stable pressure.

Glaucoma occurs when this fluid cannot drain properly, leading to a buildup of pressure within the eye. Increased pressure compresses the optic nerve, which can ultimately result in blindness if not detected and treated early.

Routine eye pressure testing allows for early detection and timely treatment—helping to protect your pet’s vision and overall eye health.

Glaucoma is a consequence of a blockage of the outflow and a subsequent buildup of pressure within the eye.

High pressure compresses the optic nerve and results in blindness.
