Digital radiography constitutes one of the most exciting and esteemed advances in x-ray technology. With this leading-edge system, x-rays are available instantly for viewing, are taken with a significantly less amount of radiation, and allow for a better quality image.


Better Diagnostic Quality

Digital x-rays provide us with significantly more information than traditional films do. They allow us to make adjustments to see details, making it a tremendous help in our diagnosis. We can magnify the x-ray to a large size, highlight certain structures, enhance outlines, change image brightness, and make adjustments in contrast; all enhancing the image to show detail which may not otherwise be visible with traditional film.



Less Radiation

One of the best arguments for utilizing digital x-rays is the reduction of radiation exposure required for taking x-rays. Digital x-rays require less radiation than traditional film simply by reducing the amount of x-rays needed for a study, and reducing the need for repeat x-rays.

Digital radiography is an advanced technology that speeds treatment and helps us make the most accurate and efficient diagnosis of your pet?s condition. The detailed image is almost instantaneously developed and translated onto our computer screen, carrying with it all the advantages of other digitized images.

Traditional x-rays require several different chemicals to develop the film. This process is time consuming because the films have to spend time in each solution and then need to be rinsed and dried before they can be viewed. This process also generates a lot of waste chemicals which require special handling and disposal since they are toxic. Additionally, traditional films contain lead, which also require special disposal.   Digital x-rays cause no risk to our environment ? it completely eliminates the need for the typical chemicals as well as film required for traditional x-rays and processing.



In addition, digital x-rays are easily stored into our computer and are not subject to the degradation and fading which occurs with film. They can easily be sent via telemedicine to a specialist if needed, put on a CD for easy transport, or given to the owner for his or her records.
