Dr. Kimberly Leys

Dr. Kim Leys completed  her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology at Long Island University-Southampton and earned her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She completed internships at both the Mystic Marinelife Aquarium and the Bermuda Biological Station for Research. 

She has been the consulting veterinarian for R.A.R.E. (Reptile Adoption, Rehabilitation and Education) for 15 years.  Dr. Leys carries her love of exotic animals into her veterinary career and is an active member of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and the Association of exotic Mammal Veterinarians.

Her professional interests included exotic animal medicine and surgery, ultrasound, internal medicine and emergency medicine.

Dr. Leys lives on a small farm with her 2 boys and has numerous pets including 3 cats (Saba, Kitty, Nevis), 2 dogs (Newman, Maddie), 2 guinea pigs (Mavis, Samantha), a corn snake (Cornelia), a hedgehog (Rosie) and a chuckwalla lizard (Igor). 

In her spare time she does relief veterinary work for Roswell Park Cancer Institute and teaches in the veterinary technician program at Medaille College. She also enjoys playing goalie in a women’s hockey league.
